Clean power from the sun, developed with care

Solar energy is one of the fastest-growing sources of clean power in Europe, and a key part of Ventus’s portfolio.

Photovoltaic plants

Development built on trust and transparency

We specialise in the development, financing and turnkey construction of ground-mounted photovoltaic plants, and we manage every stage of their life cycle: from site evaluation and land securing through permitting, construction and long-term operation to eventual decommissioning. Throughout the operating phase, we work closely with our partners to keep every plant performing at its best, year after year.

Successful solar projects depend on strong local partnerships. That’s why we involve municipalities, landowners and local communities from the very beginning, and we develop every project openly and fairly. Our experience across several EU markets, combined with our own PV investments in Bulgaria and Spain, allows us to deliver high-quality projects that local partners can rely on.

Biodiversity

Solar parks that give back to nature

A well-designed solar park does more than produce clean energy. It can also become a valuable habitat. Scientific studies show that solar parks can increase local biodiversity, because the fenced, undisturbed land offers shelter to wildlife and protected species.

Wherever possible, we green the ground beneath our installations with native shrubs and regional seed mixtures. The resulting flower-rich meadows and hedgerows attract bees, butterflies, birds and other insects, which in turn help pollinate the surrounding farmland.

Solar parks also give the land itself time to recover. When intensively farmed land is converted, the soil is no longer treated with pesticides, fertilisers or slurry. This helps soil regenerate and measurably reduces nitrate levels in groundwater.

Agri-PV

Energy and agriculture, side by side

Agri-PV combines solar power generation with active farming on the same land, whether arable fields or pasture. It is an efficient way to use valuable land, producing clean energy while farming continues underneath and between the panels.

The benefits go beyond energy. Solar modules can shield crops from extreme heat and hail, and their shade can reduce the plants’ water needs. This is an increasingly valuable advantage in southern Europe’s warmer, drier climate. With the right design, agri-PV supports farming, biodiversity and energy production at the same time.

Hybrid projects

Solar, wind and storage combined

Combining technologies makes each project stronger. By pairing solar with wind at the same location, we make better use of the grid connection, access roads and other infrastructure, while the two sources complement each other throughout the day and across the seasons.

Adding battery energy storage takes this a step further. Stored solar power can be delivered when demand and prices are highest, which increases revenues, supports grid stability and makes projects more resilient in a changing market.

Market models

Flexible project models

We develop solar projects under a range of market models, including state support schemes where available and subsidy-free projects based on long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) or market sales. Solar is now competitive without subsidies in many European markets, which opens up new opportunities for landowners and investors alike.

For landowners

Secure long-term income from your land

If you own suitable land, a solar plant can provide a stable, long-term income with no investment or effort on your part. We typically consider sites from around 5 hectares, enough for a plant of 5 MWp or more.

As a landowner, you benefit from:

  • Long-term lease income: fixed, reliable payments for around 30 years
  • No investment or risk: we finance, develop, build and operate the plant
  • No administrative burden: we take care of all planning, permitting and construction
  • A transparent partner: clear agreements and open communication at every stage
